Alaska is one of the last wildernesses on
Earth. It's the largest and northernmost state in
the USA and has more miles of coastline than the other
49 states put together. It's also home to a staggering
three million lakes, five thousand glaciers and the
highest peak in North America. Alaska houses a rare
collection of wildlife - moose, whales, wolves, brown
bears, polar bears and very few humans. The mystique
of the cold ice-capped north draws in travellers who
have named this state "The Final Frontier".
There are a number of varied terrains across the state
suitable for everything from wildlife and forest jaunts
to ice trekking - from the lush and rainy southeast
to the Arctic tundra in the North, a vast unexplored
arctic desert plain.
